October 2010

After a summer on the road and lots of hard work, Teneriffe Enterprises junior rider Sandra Crabtree and her horse, Follow Me, earned enough points to qualify for the Washington International Horse Show’s Childrens Hunter Finals.  The show accepts the top 30 entries from the Childrens Hunter division all over the country.  Sandra and “Lucas” travelled out to Washington, DC and shipped into the middle of the city for the opportunity to show in the Verizon Center’s arena. Lucas stayed in a stall on the streets of DC and they prepared to show in the underground parking lot that belonged to the Verizon Center.  It was certainly an experience that you don’t have at your average USEF show!

We are so proud to report that the two of them not only made it to the second round of the finals, they were 10th overall.  A truly amazing and inspiring accomplishment for them in their first year together!

Pictures coming soon!

November 2010

November in Indiana means IHJA Medal Finals!  Every year Teneriffe riders enjoy competing in the finals.  It’s a goal of just about every show rider in the area to qualify and compete.  In 2010, we had riders  qualify and compete:  Kendall Hylton, Lily Sanchez, Karlee Reagan, and Madalynn Camp.  Everyone works hard for this show and spends lots of time riding with no stirrups, practicing the equitation tests with everything from mount and dismount to hand galloping jumps and brushing up on their horsemanship knowledge for the written exam.  After much preparation, everyone had wonderful rides and came home after a great experience, making Sara very proud.

Kendall Hylton & her horse No Scrubs came home with a Reserve Championship in the Adult Mini Medal Finals after only a handful of shows together to prepare.

Lily Sanchez & her horse Luxury Defined finished a strong 4th Place in a tough field in the IHJA Junior Medal Finals, also recieving a high score on the written test.

Karlee Reagan & her horse Red Tail Scamp and Madalynn Camp & her borrowed horse Oscar both contested the IHJA medal finals for the first time in the Childrens Mini Medal Finals.  Both riders rode well and gained valuable experience, finishing just out of the ribbons.

Many congratulations to all of the Teneriffe Enterprises riders on such a successful year!  We are really looking forward to what 2011 has in store.

Congratulations to Kendall Hylton on the purchase of the Dutch Warmblood gelding No Scrubs.  Kendall and Oliver have already seen much success in their short partnership together, with wins and championships in the Novice Adult Hunter division as well as the 2’6 adult equitation classes, completing the year with a reserve championship in the IHJA Adult Mini Medal Final.

We look forward to watching this pair in 2011 in the Adult Amateur Hunter Division!

Please stop by soon for new updates.

FOXTON IHJA

Congratulations to the following on a successful show at Foxton Farms on March 12:

Kendall Hylton & No Srubs: 3ft Debut!  After winning the 2’6 warmup, Kendall and “Oliver” jumped around the 3ft for the first time at a show, making us so proud!  They also did the IHJA Adult Medal, qualifying for medal finals and even showing off a counter canter!

Hallie Grimmer & Soldier Boy: Hallie and “Boogie” also had a move up show, jumping around the 2’6 for the very first time.  Boogie and Hallie won every class they did but one (where they came in 2nd) and beating even their trainer.  They were champion in the Mini Hunter Division!  They also did their very first medal class ever, also qualifying for for the IHJA medal finals in the Childrens Mini Medal.  Congratulations Hallie!

Jillian Elisha and Pinkalicious:  After conquering their winter goal of qualifying for pony finals, Jilly and Cupcake went to get some more miles jumping around.  They certainly did so, winning many classes and coming home with a Reserve Champion in Mini Hunter and a qualifying round in the IHJA Pony Medal.

Katharine Gorcos and Miss Maggie Mae made Foxton their very first hunter/jumper show ever quite a success by winning numerous classes and a Reserve Champion in the Beginner Junior Rider Division. Maggie and Katharine had never been to a show like that and weren’t quite sure what to expect, but they were ready to go and took the beginner classes by storm.  We look forward to seeing them progress together in the months to come.  Congratulations!

Also joining us on the road was Angela Stajkowski’s sweet young horse, Absolut Irish.  He made his debut in the 2’6 classes and marched right around like he’d had the job all his life. We were so proud.  He won both the 2ft and 2’6 warmups and was a star! Angie and “Hogan” will now be moving to Michigan and we wish them the best of luck together in the future!

LEDGES WINTER

After taking a few months to lay low, do some intensive at home training, and stay warm, TE riders hit the ground running by starting the year off at one of the many Ledges Winter A shows held in Roscoe, IL at Ledges Sporting horses over the winter.  Jillian Elisha and Pinkalicious (aka Cupcake) went with the goal of working on getting qualified for the Small Green Pony Hunters at USEF Pony Finals held in Lexington, KY every year.  Jilly and Cupcake jumped around and had a wonderful learning weekend, and at the end of the show took home the reserve championship in the Greens, which means they’ve already qualified for the finals! YAY!

Sandra Crabtree and her sweet horse Da Vinci also went, competing in their final show together and riding to good ribbons and great rounds in the Modified Childrens Hunter division.  Our beloved “Vinnie” will now be sold on to another home.
